Working method
Most of my images are made using large or medium format film cameras. I develop the negatives myself and then either scan and digitally print to produce archival giclee prints or hand print in my darkroom to produce archival silver gelatin fibre prints.
Each darkroom print is unique, even when the same negative is used. In this world of instant imaging, this method from an almost altogether different era of photography results in a unique piece of art that holds forever a piece of the artists heart and soul.
The process is a labour of time, love and expertise but you get to enjoy the magic and wonder that comes from capturing a moment in time on a piece of photographic emulsion.
I do occasionally use a digital camera when time is of an issue but my passion still lies with film.
